My name is Jason Marcus and I’m the owner of Marcus Custom Builders, a custom homes and building company in Spearfish, South Dakota. Born and raised in South Dakota, I was in the construction business for a long time before opening Marcus Custom Builders. Because of this, I feel I bring a wide breadth of experience and knowledge to building custom homes.
Being raised in the Midwest, there are certain values and beliefs our business is built on.
We partner with excellent subcontractors who are knowledgeable and experienced in their trades. I believe in hiring professionals who are good at what they do and let them do their thing. Technology is advancing in almost every field, that’s why it’s important for me to
understand what I don’t know and rely the expertise of my fellow contractors who specialize in specific fields to educate me and execute their phase of the project.
I only hire individuals who are hard working, trustworthy and reliable. Those are things you can’t teach. I can teach someone to cut a board or use and air nailer, but they have to have the three basic traits listed above. This shows not only in the relationships I have with the crew and their relationships with each other, but also our relationships with our customers. Often times when we are finished with a project, the customers ask when they’ll get to see us again. Those are the types of relationships I like to have with our clients.
